친애하는 동역자들께,
The River of Life School
We just had a wonderful teachers' workshop here at the Three Seas. Twenty-two people who are seriously interested in serving in the River of Life School gathered for a two day experience. Following lectures on Christian education, the school and labor as prayer on Friday afternoon and evening, we enjoyed an informal campfire. All participants spent Saturday morning doing physical labor on the Three Seas Ranch. This included weeding corn, cutting grass for feed, some cleanup and hauling rock. All worked hard in the hot sun without complaint. The afternoon was dedicated to group challenges and physical activities wrapping up with a feedback time. Everyone was enthusiastic as they made their ways home.
삼수령에서는 1박 2일간 생명의강 학교 워크샵이 열렸습니다. 관심자 스물두분이 참석하셔서, 기독교 세계관 및 노동에 관한 강의를 듣고, 저녁에는 모닥불 캠프를 했습니다. 모든 참석자들이 토요일 오전에는 삼수령 목장에서 노동에 참여했습니다. 옥수수밭에 잡초를 뽑기도 하고, 소먹이용 풀을 베기도 하고, 돌을 나르거나 청소하는 등 여러가지 일로 섬겨주셨습니다. 뜨거운 날씨였지만 모두들 불평없이 일했습니다. 오후에는 야외에서 공동체 활동을 하고 모임에 대한 피드백을 나눈후 모든 일정을 마쳤습니다. 모두들 학교에 대해 열정을 가지고 집으로 돌아가셨습니다.
The next step is for those who feel a call to teach at the school and want to apply to send us essays on why they want to teach at the River of Life School. We will be selecting several to participate in our summer River of Life School camp for potential students and parents. Finally, after our summer program is over (and we have recuperated a bit), we will be making our final selection of teachers to come join us in preparing the curriculum and other work that must be completed before we open next March.
생명의강 학교 교사로 부르심을 받았다고 생각하는 분들은 왜 생명의강 학교 교사로 일하기 원하는지에 대해 에세이를 써서 저희에게 보내주시기 바랍니다. 몇 분을 선정해서 여름에 있을 생명의강 학교 캠프에 참여하시도록 할 계획입니다. 그래서 여름 프로그램이 모두 마치면(물론 저희도 쉬는 시간을 좀 가진후에), 마지막으로 교사를 선정해서 내년 3월 개교 이전에 교과과정 및 다른 준비과정을 함께 하도록 할 것입니다.
In addition to this exciting workshop, we have also had some very encouraging meetings with people who are interested in providing financial support for the school and our construction needs. While it is too early to write about anything specific (nothing is definitely confirmed yet), we have a strong sense of God bringing all the various pieces together to create this school.
흥미로운 워크샵외에도 우리는 학교 및 건축에 재정적으로 후원하기를 원하는 분들과 만날 기회가 있었고, 매우 큰 격려가 되었습니다. 구체적으로 말씀드리기엔 좀 이르지만, 하나님께서 여러가지 조각들을 맞추어서 생명의강 학교를 세워가고 계시다는 것을 강하게 느낄 수 있었습니다.

Repeated from last month: 지난 달에 이어서
Because of this intense interest, I would like to take a few moments to reiterate a few things about the school, especially for those who may not have received earlier newsletters.
지난 달 뉴스레터를 못 보신 분들을 위해서 학교 관련해서 몇가지 일들을 다시 한 번 더 알려드리고 싶습니다.
The River of Life School, operated by the the Three Seas Community at Jesus Abbey's Three Seas Ranch, is scheduled to open in March of 2010 with 1st and 2nd year of middle school. At that stage, we will not have dormitory facilities so will limit attendance to day students only from Jesus Abbey and the city of Taebaek. The following year we will add the 3rd year of middle school. Up to that point, the school will be using the vacated Hasami village school. We have permission to use that building until 2012 at which point we will outgrow it in any case and have to move to newly built facilities at the Three Seas. We need to raise startup funds for the school and about $3 million for the new buildings. Please pray for God's provision for this.
예수원 삼수령 목장이 운영하는 생명의강 학교는 중 1-2학년 과정으로 내년 3월 개교 예정입니다. 내년에는 기숙사 없이 시작하기 때문에 통학이 가능한 예수원 자녀들과 태백 지역 학생들을 대상으로 시작합니다. 내 후년에는 중 3과정이 시작됩니다. 내년부터 2년간 2012년까지는 하사미 분교 교사를 사용하고 이후에는 삼수령에 교사를 지어서 이전해야 합니다. 개교를 위한 비용뿐 아니라 삼수령에 새로운 교사를 세우기 위해서 약 3백만달러의 자금이 필요합니다. 하나님께서 이를 채워주시기를 기도해 주시기 바랍니다.
The mission of the River of Life School is to prepare the "Unification Generation." We will be educating our young people from a Biblical world view. We will emphasize such things as understanding the history that has led to this present situation with a divided Korea and look at what God's plan for the future of this nation might be. All subjects will be taught in an integrated format with at strong emphasis on team work. We will also be building on the history and tradition of Jesus Abbey that emphasizes physical labor, community and prayer. Of course, we will take full advantage of this wonderful location as we teach science and about God's creation. It is a place where you can see for miles and where young people will find their minds filled with big thoughts and new possibilities.
생명의강 학교의 사명의 “통일세대”를 준비시키는 것입니다. 우리 학교는 청소년들을 성경적 세계관으로 교육할 것입니다. 한반도가 나누어지게 된 원인들을 역사적으로 살펴보고, 이 나라를 향한 하나님의 계획을 볼 수 있도록 가르칠 것입니다. 모든 교과목은 팀웍을 살려서 통합교수법으로 가르치게 됩니다. 또한 우리 학교는 노동, 공동체, 기도를 강조하는 예수원의 전통과 역사를 기초로 시작합니다. 뿐만 아니라 삼수령의 전략적 위치가 갖는 이점을 살려서 과학과 하나님의 창조세계에 대해서 가르칠 것입니다. 15만평의 너른 땅에서 우리의 청소년들이 그들의 생각을 키우고 새로운 가능성을 발견하게 될 것입니다.
